Retire in Safe and Inexpensive Country
With the rapidly approaching tsunami of retiring baby boomers (over 80 million in USA and Canada alone), many who can't afford to retire in USA, Canada or Western Europe are planning to move South, mainly to Central and South American countries. They require safe environment, modern and inexpensive health care as well as standard of living they are used to, among other factors.
Several of those retirement destinations perfectly meet the requirements of baby boomers, each country is unique with it's own flavor and advantages, each fits different taste and expectations.
Panama
Panama, long time the #1 retirement destination, offers two distinct residency visa programs for retirees:
• Rentista visa - requires 5-years deposit in the national bank in Panama, yielding at least US$2,000 per month;
• Pensionado visa - requires proof of guaranteed US$1,000/month income from the government or private pension. Extra income of US$250/month for each dependent is also required.
Applicants must pass criminal, background and medical checks.
The immigration application must be filed in Panama, directly with the immigration department, with the help of Panamanian lawyer. Applicant's presence is mandatory at the time of filing.
Panama has been rated #1 Retirement Haven in the world. The low cost of living, low crime rate, warm climate all year round, excellent health care (including new John Hopkins Hospital in Panama City), great food, international airport with direct flights to major destination worldwide, modern infrastructure and the most appealing programs of special benefits for foreign residents and retirees you'll find anywhere in the world today are just some factors making Panama the preferred destination for many Americans, Canadians and Europeans alike.
