Residency and Citizenship
There are several popular destination countries that offer various Permanent Residency programs through investment or business creation, providing clearly defined path to their Citizenship. Depending from the country the residency may be obtained within 6 to 24+ months, while eligibility for citizenship usually comes after few years of residency.
But there are countries, although only a few, that offer a legal path to their citizenship and internationally recognized passport directly through investment or contribution, without any prior or future residency requirements, all in the matter of few months.
Panama
Panama offers several permanent residency programs for passive investors - the basic requirements for most popular programs are:
• Reforestation Program - requires US$80,000 investment into 20 hectares of government approved reforestation project;
• Self-Solvency Program - requires the deposit of US$300,000 in approved Panama bank account for 3 years;
• Self-Solvency Investor Program - requires the purchase of the real estate property for at least US$300,000.
Applicants must pass criminal, background and medical checks.
The immigration application must be filed in Panama, directly with the immigration department, with the help of Panamanian lawyer. Applicant's presence is mandatory at the time of filing.
Panama has been rated #1 Retirement Haven in the world. The low cost of living, low crime rate, warm climate all year round, excellent health care (including new John Hopkins Hospital in Panama City), great food, international airport with direct flights to major destination worldwide, modern infrastructure and the most appealing programs of special benefits for foreign residents and retirees you'll find anywhere in the world today are just some factors making Panama the preferred destination for many Americans, Canadians and Europeans alike.
